Since 2009 the foundation of the Markus Fine Wines story is the unwavering belief that it is possible to translate dozens of generations of Croatian grape growing into the character of great modern wines. We want to try harder every year to capture the unique terroir, the local grape varietals developed over centuries and a climate ideal for growing complex grapes into the appropriate blend of structure, power and finesse by making balanced wines.

In May 2024, the Markus Winery officially opened its Wine & Tasting Room, located in Split at Marasovića 2. This is the first wine tasting room in Split to be opened by a branded wine producer, making this venue truly exclusive.
The Markus Wine & Tasting Room is situated in the heart of Split, right next to the iconic Marjan Stairs, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the city center. Housed in a renovated stone cottage, the interior blends contemporary minimalism, modern technology, and Dalmatian tradition, evoking the modern philosophy of an old Mediterranean tavern where locals once enjoyed traditional delicacies with sips of fine wine, and where people gathered to socialize, sing, and play music.
Our goal was to create an unprecedented customer experience in Split and Dalmatia by combining gastronomy, winemaking, and education into a meaningful whole. This approach is a tribute to wine, offering a complete paradise for true connoisseurs of premium wines and authentic bites.

Markus Fine Wines is a family winery that believes that our staff is also our family. We want to honour the family roots of our team to the Dalmatian coast as well as to the deep roots of the vines from this region. We want to show the world that the indigenous varietals of Croatia are worthy of the attention to detail, use modern equipment and techniques to produce wines that locals will say reminds them of home. We want our wines to invoke memories of a history that has existed for centuries and we understand we simply stewards to this process for a moment in time.
